A cleaner Shadwell, together
Shadwell’s market streets and residential routes are shared by lots of people every day. Regular volunteer clean-ups help keep those spaces pleasant and give neighbours the chance to meet and work side by side.
Watney Plaza, just south of Watney Market, as the meeting point. Sign in with the co-ordinator, collect your equipment and listen to the short safety briefing before heading out with the group. New volunteers can ask to be paired with someone experienced.

How the litter pick works
You do not need your own litter picker or previous experience. The WaSh Wombles co-ordinators provide the kit and a short safety briefing.
Meet and sign in
Find the co-ordinator at the meeting point. If it is your first time, aim to arrive near the start.
Collect your kit
Pick up a litter picker, bag and hoop, gloves and high-visibility vest. Listen to the safety guidance and the suggested route.
Pick, return, sign out
Work at a pace that suits you. Bring back your collected rubbish and equipment, then sign out with the co-ordinator.
What to wear: comfortable closed-toe shoes and, if possible, long sleeves and trousers. Follow the co-ordinator’s advice and leave sharp or hazardous items untouched.
