Corporate volunteering

Improving your team’s well-being while improving the area

We welcome enquiries from businesses, charities and groups to organise a litter picking event.

Getting out with the Wash Wombles

What to expect from some time with the WaSh Wombles

  • We agree a starting point, start time and duration – we recommend 1-2 hours as a good length of time to be out
  • All team members are given kit and a health and safety briefing
  • We will group participants into pairs or small groups and give them a target area to focus on
  • Participants bring their rubbish back for logging and a small prize
  • We recommend having a session of around 20 people though we can organise for teams of up to 60
  • Depending on location we can provide drinks and light refreshments and baggage storage
  • Subject to availability we can help facilitate room hire with our partners at St George-in-the-East church or Stepney City Farm to include a team meeting or event

Why is litter picking a good team activity?

Litter picking is great for everyone’s well-being. It’s incredibly inclusive and is something that nearly everyone is able to participate in. We love hearing from our volunteers about the benefits that litter picking has on their mental health and well-being as well as their physical health.

Call To Action

Get your teams talking

When our volunteers go out together they get opportunity to talk with people they might not ordinarily without the awkwardness of networking events and icebreakers.

Feel the benefits of being outside

Litter picking is relaxing and a great way to get out of the office. It’s gentle exercise that gets everyone up and moving.

Give back to the community

At the end of the event you will hopefully/unfortunately have a massive pile of rubbish that shows the tangible difference you’ve made to one of the most deprived communities in the UK.

Value for money

We ask for a minimum donation of £5 per person to cover our transport, laundry and admin costs. We ask larger businesses to consider an additional donation to support our schools outreach programme and community engagement.

How to take things forward

Drop us an email at hello@washwombles.co.uk to discuss possible dates. All of our team are volunteers and take time off work or away from other commitments to facilitate corporate volunteering but we will do our best.

We ask for a minimum donation of £5 per person but if cost is a barrier we are happy to have a discussion.
